Chilangos

Chilangos is a Mexican street food truck in Somerset West, trading at the corner of Old Stellenbosch Road and Steynsrust Road from Tuesday to Saturday, 12:00 to 20:00. The menu features burritos, nachos, quesadillas, chilli poppers, spicy chicken wings, pulled pork ciabatta, fries and churros, plus winter specials such as birria tacos and loaded chimichangas. They also cater for events, private functions, birthday parties and markets.

Didi's Mexican

Didi's Mexican started out as Didi's Bitchin Burritos, a Mexican food truck in Cape Town, and now runs a retro VW Kombi truck called Rosie alongside takeaway stores in Plumstead, Newlands and the Foreshore. The truck is booked for private functions only, such as birthday parties, weddings, corporate events and film shoots, with custom menus and pinatas on request. Food includes burritos, street-style tacos, toasted quesadillas, baked enchiladas, nachos, burrito bowls and churros, with chicken, beef, hake and vegetarian or vegan fillings. Their catering arm also offers canapes, taco grazing tables and dessert bars.

JACK RABBiT Mobile Kitchen

Jack Rabbit Mobile Kitchen is a black food trailer from Durbanville in Cape Town that serves gourmet burgers with branded buns, pulled pork rolls, cubanos, sliders, quesadillas and fries, with sauces made in-house. Most of its work is catering for weddings, corporate functions, birthdays and private parties, often on Winelands wine farms, and it also appears at public events such as Nights at Norval and Villiera's Fizzy Therapy. Custom menus are offered, including vegetarian burgers and canapes, and the trailer travels to venues across the Western Cape.

SIBS Tacos

SIBS is a halaal taco trailer that trades at Trucks Access Park in Kenilworth, Cape Town, and pops up at weekend food truck events in areas such as Kuils River, Kensington and Mitchells Plain. The menu centres on tacos filled with birria beef, steak or grilled prawns, with consommé for dipping, plus taco burgers and large taco pizzas made from tortillas and melted mozzarella. A sushi menu runs alongside, with rolls, poke bowls, sushi tacos and platters. While the trailer is open at Access Park you can also order through Uber Eats, and the team caters private and corporate events.

Taco Mel

Taco Mel is a small Cape Town food truck serving Mexican-inspired food made to order: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, jalapeno poppers, mozzarella sticks and a walking dorito. They trade at weekend markets, wine estates and festivals around Durbanville and the northern suburbs, and have joined food truck evenings in Table View. Taco Mel also takes bookings for year-end functions, weddings and birthdays.

TacoKombi

TacoKombi serves Mexican street food from a restored VW kombi. The menu centres on beef or chicken tacos with fresh salsa, avocado, lettuce, jalapeños and cheddar, plus nachos and jalapeño poppers, with a vegetarian taco on offer too. Find them on Saturdays at Hazel Food Market in Lynnwood, Pretoria. They also cater private and corporate functions, school, sporting and church events, and offer a compact Taco Bar for venues short on space. Quotes are by enquiry.

The Curbside Kitchen is a Pietermaritzburg food truck serving tacos, sliders, brisket and birria. The menu also runs to loaded fries, nachos, wraps and saucy wings, all dished up in takeaway boxes. The truck moves around town rather than keeping one fixed pitch, so check their Facebook page or call to find where they are trading.

It has no permanent trading spot and works events, music festivals, carnivals, corporate functions and private birthday parties.
